How Fishbowl streamlines the buyers’ journey from demo to deal with Chili Piper
When Salesforce visibility and accurate routing became critical, Fishbowl switched from Calendly to Chili Piper. And they stuck with it even when leadership suggested they try Qualified.
As Senior Marketing Operations Manager at Fishbowl, Taylor Boyer has to make sure the company’s go-to-market strategy runs smoothly. That includes lead routing, calendar integrations, and ensuring that every demo lands with the right rep.
When his team ran into obstacles with scheduling and Salesforce visibility, Taylor had to find a better solution.
How Fishbowl got too big for Calendly
Fishbowl started with Calendly. It handled basic scheduling, but it couldn’t keep up as the team grew and its GTM strategy became more complex.
“We were using Calendly, which was good, but it didn’t do exactly what we needed it to do in terms of routing and having visibility into Salesforce.”
Calendly couldn’t match contacts or accounts before presenting a calendar, and it couldn’t pull ownership routing directly from Salesforce.
The team needed a cleaner, reliable connection to Salesforce for ownership routing, but Calendly couldn’t support it.
That’s when Taylor knew that something had to change.
Why Chili Piper clicked
For Taylor, Chili Piper was the first tool that felt like it was built for RevOps.
“It really came down to one thing, and it still is this one thing. The integration that Chili Piper has with Salesforce and its ability to identify Contacts and Accounts and match.”
Fishbowl rolled out Chili Piper for inbound and outbound flows across the GTM team. The effects were immediate:
- No more creating individual links for each rep.
- Routing rules pulled directly from Salesforce, especially ownership rules.
- Meetings booked on the correct calendar.
Taylor also liked how flexible Chili Piper was and how easily he could manage it on his own.
Sticking with what’s already working
At one point, Fishbowl’s leadership asked if they could move scheduling to Qualified, a platform they were already using.
“There was this big push to consolidate tools, and they said, ‘Hey, can we do the same thing in Qualified that we’re doing in Chili Piper?’
Taylor tested Qualified’s scheduling functionality, but the answer was clear.
“Qualified can search contacts, they can’t create them. Everything comes in as leads. For us, it was a pain point because it was throwing off our funnel numbers.”
Ultimately, the decision was clear.
‘No, I’m not switching. This is a terrible experience compared to what I have.’
Using Chili Piper across the lifecycle
Fishbowl doesn’t just use Chili Piper for inbound scheduling. They implemented it across the entire buyer and customer journey.
- Concierge for website bookings - it handles lead routing, account and contact matching, and maintains fairness across reps so AEs never lose the Contacts they’re working.
- Handoff for SDRs to use when leads require additional discovery, allowing them to round-robin qualified Leads to AEs. It’s “also another thing competitors didn’t have.”
- ChiliCal by the post-sales teams for onboarding calls, renewals, support cases, and more.

ChiliCal specifically surprised Taylor.
“It was really easy to set up, really easy for everyone to integrate, and those events just started showing up in Salesforce.”
What makes Chili Piper different
Before Chili Piper, Fishbowl booked meetings manually. Now, the experience is automated and seamless for both reps and prospects.
“A user fills out a form, and the minute they click submit, we're already processing it in Salesforce, we're getting them a meeting scheduled, we've got them put into an outreach sequence.”
If Chili Piper disappeared tomorrow?
“It definitely would put a huge roadblock in where we're at, and we'd have to reset and probably take a couple of weeks, if not months, to recover from it.”’
Why Taylor recommends Chili Piper
Chili Piper’s ability to natively create Contacts in Salesforce made a big impact.
With accurate routing and less manual work, Taylor doesn’t have to worry about meetings slipping through the cracks or inaccurate funnel metrics.
“I always call it a no-fire tool. It just runs. I’m never stressing about it breaking.”
And when something does come up?
“I tell everyone that. I can go into the Slack channel and be like, ‘Hey, I need help with this,’ and someone responds within five minutes.”
The obvious choice for Fishbowl
“What it boils down to is: the people that are in the sandbox with you provide a link for booking a meeting. That’s it, there’s nothing more to it…When companies get to a certain size, they need more than that. And that’s kind of where Chili Piper kind of towers over the rest.”
Chili Piper isn’t just a scheduling tool. It’s the infrastructure Fishbowl relies on to run its GTM engine.
