GTM Dictionary
GINI coefficient
also: lift, model discrimination
In scoring, the GINI coefficient measures how much better your score ranks converters above non-converters than random chance: 0 is a coin flip, 1 is perfect.
Plotted as a lift curve, a good score bends sharply toward the top deciles. If your vendor or in-house model cannot tell you this number, you do not have a predictive score, you have a point system with confidence. It is the single test that turned our old model from trusted to retired.
Watch: Adam explains it (badly)
Fifteen seconds of gini coefficient, as explained by Adam, our comedian-in-residence. If the definition did not land, maybe the joke will.
